2017 Burke Museum Flintknapping Demo Report
January 32st
Host - Burke Museum, Demonstrator - Dan Meatte - Washington State Parks

Dan Meatte, Archaeologist for Washington State Parks and PSK member demonstrated and discussed flintknapping at the Burke Museum for the Museum"s Archaeology Day.

The Archaeology Day Exhibits and Demonstrations were a chance for local Scouts (Cubs, Brownies, Boys and Girls) to get a taste of history and see how tools were made and used in ancient times. Dan Meatte demostrated how to create a bi-face from an Obsidian Cobble and discussed the tools that would have been made from the bi-face. He also discussed the value of stone tools as trade items, particularly in the Pacific Northwest.

Dan did three separate demonstrations each to fairly large groups of Scouts and their parents, as can be see in the following photos - GREAT JOB DAN!.
